Welcome to Trezor – Let’s Get Started

Your journey to securing your cryptocurrency starts here. Setting up your Trezor hardware wallet is a straightforward and crucial step in safeguarding your digital assets. Follow this comprehensive guide to securely activate your device and take full control of your cryptocurrencies. Step 1: Obtain Your Trezor Device Unpack your Trezor hardware wallet (Model T or Trezor One) and verify that it is in its original packaging. Each device is sealed to prevent tampering. Do not use the device if the seal is broken or missing. Step 2: Visit Trezor.io/Start Launch a web browser and navigate to Trezor.io/start. This is the official and safest location to initiate your setup. Avoid downloading software or updates from unofficial sources. Click on your device model to commence the setup process. Step 3: Download Trezor Suite You will be prompted to download Trezor Suite, the official desktop or web application for managing your wallet. Trezor Suite enables you to send, receive, trade, and manage your cryptocurrency securely. Download Trezor Suite compatible with your operating system (Windows, macOS, or Linux). Install and launch the application. Connect your Trezor to your computer using the USB cable. Step 4: Update Firmware If this is your first time using the device, you will need to install the firmware, which is the software that operates your wallet. Follow the on-screen instructions in Trezor Suite to complete this step. Once installed, the device will restart. Step 5: Create a New Wallet or Restore an Existing One After installing the firmware: Select “Create New Wallet” if you are setting up for the first time. Select “Recover Wallet” if you are restoring a previous wallet using your recovery seed. Step 6: Secure Your Recovery Seed This is the most critical step. Trezor will present a 12 or 24-word recovery seed—a unique key to your wallet. Write it down and keep it stored offline. Never take a photo, save it on a device, or share it. This seed is your only backup. Anyone with access to it can access your funds. Step 7: Establish a PIN Create a strong PIN to safeguard your device from unauthorized access.
